To utilize physical activity prescriptions to promote participation in movement and exercise in the community, on-line and within recreation/fitness facilities to promote the importance of regular physical activity.

As a National Not-For-Profit, Prescription To Get Active is governed by an elected Board of Directors. The board oversees the organization on a national level. Locally the program is powered by dedicated members that have formed Chapters. Each Chapter is organized within a geographical region and consists of healthcare members, recreation members and program supporters.
Steve Allan - President
Steve is currently the Executive Director for the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association. He has been with the Association for over 25 years with a career that started with a practicum student opportunity. Steve has a BA in Recreation Administration from the University of Alberta, a Finance Diploma from NAIT and has a CAE designation from the Canadian Society of Association Executives. He lives in Edmonton with his wife and son and enjoys outdoor activities including soccer and mountain biking.
Jason Schenher - Treasurer
Jason has spent over 25 years in the public sector, specifically in health care. His last 15 years have been in primary care, working with Family Physicians, in leadership roles. He is currently the Executive Director of the Highland Primary Care Network (PCN). Jason also holds a Bachelor of Commerce as well as a Master’s in Business Administration.
Dr. Fariba Aghajafari - Director
Dr. Fariba Aghajafari is an academic family physician and associate professor at the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. She completed her training in Family Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She has obtained a master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from University of Toronto and a PhD in Health Services Research from University of Calgary. Dr. Aghajafari teaching and research involve evidence-based medicine, pregnancy and child health, nutrition, refugee health and health services research in primary care.
Lisa Dare - Director
Lisa is an accredited professional executive coach, facilitator, consultant, and entrepreneur with expertise in leadership, organizational effectiveness, and impact development. She is the CEO and principal of Lisa Dare and Associates a coaching and consulting firm that has worked with clients from diverse industries and at various levels of organizations. She has been an AFLCA certified fitness leader for more than 10 years teaching group fitness at the City of Calgary and other private facilities.
Stephanie Jeffrey - Director
Stephanie Jeffrey BMGNT holds almost 25 years of experience in recreation, fitness, and community development. She believes in not only talking about physical activity but getting out and being active. In addition to her role as the Executive Director of the Manitoba Fitness Council, she is a certified fitness leader, leading classes weekly.
